Privacy Policy

Last updated · 1 June 2026Effective · 1 June 2026Version 2.1

We try to write this the way we build the app: plainly, and with as little fuss as possible. The short version - we collect the minimum we need to help you care for your plants, we never sell your data, and you stay in control of it.

01In short

The promise

We collect only what we need, we don't sell your personal data to anyone, and you can export or delete everything from inside the app at any time.

This policy explains what information Plantcare (“we”, “us”) gathers when you use our mobile apps and website, why we gather it, and the choices you have. By using Plantcare, you agree to the practices described here.

02What we collect

We keep this list deliberately short.

  • Account details - your name and email address, if you choose to create an account. You can begin using Plantcare without one.
  • Your plants and gardens - the plants you add, their names, rooms, care schedules and the progress photos you take.
  • Plant photos for identification - images you submit to identify a species. These are processed to return a result and, unless you save them to a plant, are not retained.
  • Device & usage data - app version, device type and anonymous, aggregated interaction data that helps us fix bugs and improve the app.

We do not collect precise location. Garden addresses are optional, entered by you, and used only to display and label your gardens.

03How we use it

Your information is used to make the app work and to make it better:

  • To identify plants and generate care guidance tailored to them.
  • To send the gentle reminders you've asked for - and only those.
  • To sync your gardens across your devices and any people you share them with.
  • To diagnose problems, improve features, and keep the service secure.

We never use your photos or plant data to build advertising profiles, and we don't run third-party ads in Plantcare.

04Sharing

We share personal data only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers who host our infrastructure or process plant-identification requests on our behalf, under strict contractual confidentiality.
  • People you invite to a shared garden - see the next section.
  • Legal obligations, where we're required by law to disclose information.

We do not, and will not, sell your personal data.

05Shared gardens

When you share a garden, the people you invite can see the plants in it, their care history, and the name and avatar you use within Plantcare. They cannot see your email, your other gardens, or any plant you keep private.

You can remove a member, or leave a shared garden, at any time. Doing so stops further sharing from that point onward.

06Storage & security

Data is stored on secured servers within the European Union and encrypted in transit. We apply industry-standard safeguards and limit internal access to the few people who need it to run the service.

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the surface area small - the less we hold, the less there is to protect.

07Your rights

Wherever you live, and especially under the GDPR, you can:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Export your plants and gardens from the app settings.
  • Correctanything that's inaccurate.
  • Delete your account and associated data, in one tap, from Settings.

Deletion is permanent and removes your plants, photos and schedules from our systems within 30 days.

08Children

Plantcare is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please get in touch and we'll remove it.

09Changes

If we update this policy, we'll revise the date at the top and, for material changes, let you know in the app before they take effect. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
